Delhi Capitals (DC) scored 162 runs in the first innings of the 46th match of the Indian Premier League 2025 (IPL 2025) against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on April 27.
RCB opted to bowl first after winning the toss. Abishek Porel (28 runs off 11 balls) asserted early dominance on Bhuvneshwar Kumar in the third over, smashing the pacer for two sixes. Josh Hazlewood got his lucky wicket as Abishek nicked a short-pitch ball that was going down the leg side.
Yash Dayal dismissed Karun Nair (4 runs off 4 balls) in the fifth over as DC struggled to find momentum against RCB’s disciplined bowling. In the powerplay, the Capitals scored 52 runs for the loss of two wickets.

The Bengaluru bowlers exploited the conditions masterfully, stifling DC’s batting unit and preventing any significant partnerships from forming. RCB’s spinners Suyash Sharma and Krunal Pandya exerted extra pressure on DC. Only 20 runs came off the next four overs.
As the runs dried up, it eventually added to DC’s worries, resulting in Faf du Plessis’ (22 runs off 26 balls) wicket in the 10th over off Pandya.
Axar Patel (15 runs off 13 balls) hit a four and a six but that was all he could manage as Hazlewood again provided a timely wicket to RCB, cleaning up DC’s captain in the 14th over.
KL Rahul (41 runs off 39 balls), who was going run-a-ball mostly throughout the course of his innings, finally tried to up the ante in the 17th over but holed out at long-on off Bhuvneshwar’s bowling while trying to do so. Bhuvneshwar also castled Ashutosh Sharma (2 runs off 3 balls) in the same over as the wickets started to fall like ninepins.

Vipraj Nigam (12 runs off 6 balls) and Tristan Stubbs (34 runs off 18 balls) targeted Hazlewood in the 18th over that costed RCB 17 runs. Nigam smacked the Aussie for a six, while Stubbs also contributed with two fours.
The 19th over started with four runs coming off an overthrow. Stubbs continued to deal in boundaries, hammering two fours and a six off Dayal. 19 runs came off the over.
Vipraj got run-out on the second ball of the 20th over while taking a two. After smashing a boundary, Stubbs also perished as Bhuvneshwar bagged his third scalp.
Delhi Capitals ultimately finished at 162 runs for the loss of eight wickets in their 20 overs.
