Jasiwal News Goa vs Mumbai

Yashasvi Jaiswal's move from Mumbai to Goa has stirred the internet. The southpaw made a name for himself while representing Mumbai and went on to become a household name by churning out runs after runs by playing domestic cricket for Mumbai. However, despite making his intentions clear to the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) that he will feature for Goa on Wednesday, the opener said that he will forever be grateful and indebted to Mumbai Cricket and the city for making him a star.

The southpaw wrote to the MCA asking them to issue a No Objection Certificate (NOC) so that the RR opener could feature for Goa in the upcoming 2025-26 domestic season.

“It was a very tough decision for me. Whatever I am today is because of Mumbai. The city has made me who I am, and all my life, I will be indebted to the MCA,” Jaiswal told The Indian Express.

For the unversed, Jaiswal switched from Mumbai to Goa because the latter offered him a leadership role, which was very hard for the opener to reject.

“Goa has thrown me a new opportunity, and it has offered me a leadership role. My first goal will be to do well for India, and whenever I’m not on national duty, I will be playing for Goa and try to make them go deep into the tournament. This was an (important) opportunity that came my way and I just took it.”

Yashasvi Jaiswal's big move to Goa at the age of just 23 years has received mixed views from all quarters. It is to be noted that Goa just qualified for the knockout stage recently. Jaiswal is not the first player to move out from Mumbai to represent Goa. Besides the opening batter, Arjun Tendulkar and Siddesh Lad have also played for Goa.

In the letter written to MCA, the 23-year-old said he had the great privilege of playing for Mumbai in domestic cricket, and he had richly benefited from the opportunities provided by MCA. However, after careful review of his career goals and personal circumstances, Jaiswal decided to seek opportunities elsewhere.

The southpaw last played out for Mumbai the previous season after BCCI made it mandatory for players to play domestic games when no bilateral international fixtures were being played. Jaiswal finished his Mumbai career with scores of 4 & 26 runs against Jammu & Kashmir.
