IND vs ENG: Ravichandran Ashwin Fires Back at Ben Stokes’ ‘Ridiculous’ Comment on Substitution

England's Test skipper Ben Stokes has joined Northern Superchargers as a mentor in the ongoing season of The Hundred 2025. The all-rounder who played five matches for the team across the 2021 and 2024 tournaments won't be available as a player due to injury. With the Ashes 2025 coming later this year, the southpaw wants to manage his fitness.

Notably, the Test skipper was ruled out of the fifth and final Oval Test against India due to a shoulder injury. In that series, the bowler bowled his heart out across four Tests he played, bowling over 115 overs and ending up with 17 wickets. Not as a player, but Stokes still is an inspirational figure in the dressing room, and will play a massive role in uplifting the morale in of the Superchargers boys.

Ben Stokes will team up with Andrew Flintoff in the Supercharges, who is the head coach of the franchise in the ongoing Hundred 2025 season.

Northern Supercharges aim to perform well under Flintoff & Stokes

Speaking about the Supercharges, they have largely under performed in the tournament's brief four-year history. While the team is not short of firepower, they have failed to play as a unit. In the four seasons of The Hundred that have gone by, the Superchargers have failed to reach the finals even once. With arguably two inspirational figures in the backroom staff - Flintoff & Stokes, the players don't need to look for more motivation.

After Sir Ian Botham, Flintoff, and Stokes have been England's finest all-rounders, always contributing in important Test victories for the team. This year, the Superchargers boast of names like Harry Brook, Adil Rashid, David Miller, Zak Crawley, Dawid Malan, & Brydon Carse. Flintoff's son, Rocky, is also part of the squad.

Harry Brook, Northern Superchargers men’s captain, said: “The Hundred is a great tournament to be a part of. You get fantastic crowds to play in front of at the biggest venues, with great support. I have absolutely loved being a part of the Superchargers. Captaining last year was a great experience, as was working alongside Fred. We have a great group of players that we will hopefully manage to retain for this year’s competition. We will be looking to build on the momentum we have started to gather as a squad over the last few seasons.”
